Wedding Dresses For a Beach Wedding
If you have decided to hold a beach wedding, now it’s time to focus on wedding dresses suitable for it. Taking into account the weather and your own personal style preferences, you’ll find plenty of dresses to appeal to your fashionable side.
If there’s only one word to describe a beach wedding, perhaps it’s easy. There’s just something relaxed and charming about the entire affair, from the beautiful weather and backdrop to the color palettes and tendency for guests to go barefoot. The mood is breezy and cool, and this may well best be reflected by your wedding dress.
The key to finding the right wedding dress for the beach is to focus on the material: Forgo rich, thick fabrics in favor of lightweight materials that skim the body, like silk, organza, and linen. The last thing you want is to feel uncomfortable or even remotely constricted. Other traits of wedding dresses suitable for a beach wedding include:
* Flowing silhouettes that seem to simply glide over your figure. Sheath and A-line cuts are outstanding choices, but don’t shy away from long gown styles if that’s your ultimate preference.
* Colors that resonate with the season. If you’re having a spring or summer wedding on the beach, consider a dress with an accent color in light blue, pink, yellow, green, lavender, or gold, either by way of a sash or some light embroidery.
* Necklines can contribute to the overall beach-appropriate appearance of your dress. Look for halter and off-the-shoulder styles; both will keep you cool, too.
At the same time, there are a couple of details you should probably avoid for a beach wedding, too. Among them:
* Long trains and veils, both of which will blow about in the breeze and possibly collect sand as you move.
* Heavy details, such as beads and sequins. A small amount is acceptable, but any more and you risk dealing with a heavier-than-necessary dress. Remember that the key is to feel light.
* Heavy, restrictive fabrics that will seem stiff in the beach breeze. Heavier fabrics may also be too hot to be comfortable on the beach.
